Chloe Belle

This little goat is sweet through and through!
I love goats....I am one of those weird people who see an animals sweet personality.
I sure am glad that God created our little furry friends for us to enjoy.
I definitely enjoy them!

Selfie!

Jacks was being obnoxious like any billy goat can be so I flipped the camera around on my phone so he could see himself. At first he didn't know what to make of it and then came back and really took a look. He got really quiet. He was probably thinking "who is that handsome dude?"
Recently, he took a night stroll through the neighborhood without us knowing. He showed up a couple streets over in someones backyard. They tied him up and posted him on facebook but then got away and showed up several streets in the opposite direction and bellowed all night on top of someones shed. When we realized he was gone, Victoria set out on her bike and I started driving through the neighborhood. One of our friends set me on the right path until I found out he got away again and was still missing. I immediately called our Animal Control guy who is an awesome rancher guy. He is the nicest guy. Anyway, I asked him about seeing our goat and he said he was looking at one. I asked him "is he grey?"
Nolan said "yes..."
I asked...."does he stink?"
Nolan said "must be him!"
As soon as I pulled into the driveway and Jacks heard my voice he started crying frantically, like....MOM....MOM....get me out of jail!!!!!
I had to entice him with cheerios to pass up the van. He didn't want to leave the van. He wanted IN the van. Knowing that I didn't want the van to stink like him and the animal control guy and I both didn't want to have to pick him up and stink up his truck....I elected to walk Jacks home. We were quite a scene with me walking this brute of a Billy Goat with huge horns along the street with the Animal Control swinging a dog leash behind him to keep him moving. Jacks was so happy to be home he charged down the street when he knew where we were.
He was exhausted and slept the WHOLE day!
I didn't even have to take the squirt gun out with me when I had to get to the canal to turn on our irrigation pump. He can be so bad!
I am thankful to have a great, understanding community and a wonderful Animal Control guy!

Hello World!

Chloe is such a sweet girl!

;New Kids!

Our sweet doe Lizzy had QUADRUPLETS!
No wonder why she was so huge so early!
There were FOUR babies in there.
If they were all girls I would keep them all.
We have our hands full with Jacks and Sven as it is so we are only going
to keep one little doe with blue eyes that Victoria named Chloe.
The other three little guys we are looking for a home. Two have blue eyes and one has brown.
Boy are they cute!

Bathing Mr. Peabody

If you know anything about billy goats, you know they stink.
And you will know why they stink.
It's bath day because he stinks!
And Jacks doesn't like it when it rains, therefore he doesn't like to be bathed.
But he weathered quite well and didn't create too many problems.
We figured we might as well bathe Sven too.
It's good to get them used to doing all sorts of things.
We already know that he can scale a 5 foot fence from a stand still
so we thought we would find out how he does with the hose and water.
He is really cute so, right now he can do just about anything and get away with it.
Though we wouldn't let him nibble on Victoria's pony tail....his favorite thing.
Our pregnant mama, Lizzy is about to give birth any day now.
I love our garden.
I love to eat what comes out of it too.
Since this picture has been taken, our plants have tripled in size.
It always amazes me how awesome Our Lord's creations are.

Mr. Helpful

Jacks always finds something to do.
Whether it is destroying the dried out OSB that someone used as siding for the shop,
Climbing a tree to jump to the neighbors weeds....because obviously ours aren't as good,
pushing through horse fence to get to the neighbors weeds....once again, because ours aren't good enough.
In this case it is standing in the wheel barrel.
Every time I turned around he was in it, with or without anything in it.

New Babies!

So....about March I started to suspect that Lizzy was pregnant.
That rascal Jacks had something to do with that!
Victoria and I couldn't seem to remember when the last time she went into heat. So we counted out 150 days for gestation from when we last remembered and came up with the possibility of having new baby goats June 9th!
We were close! Two new baby goats came into the world on June 8th!
Kaleb and I had just left to go fishing in Logan Canyon when Kirk called and said he was pretty sure that Lizzy was about to give birth. So we high tailed it back home to see these two little miracles just minutes after they were born. Kirk and Victoria saw it all happen.
Lizzy did really well and quickly showed us good motherly instincts
Both babies looks just like mom and simply adorable.
Just seconds old they were licked clean and standing on wobbly little hooves.
This little one above is a buckling. He looks like he has pajama pants on so we are calling him PJ.
His name fits him quite well. He seems to like me. Whenever I walk into their pen he comes up to me for me to pick him up and hold him. I think we have another lap goat like his mama.
This sweet baby is a doeling that Victoria named Ella. Both have beautiful blue eyes like their parents.
One happy Mama.
I love Lizzy's sweet smile.
I think she has done a wonderful job of caring for her little darlings.
Just after they were born and were standing on wobbly legs they were talking to each other. Lizzy was between the two of them responding to each one as they bleated. She kept turning her head, responding and then looking at the other one, responding...over and over until they settled down.
It was so sweet!
Lizzy is already teaching them bad habits. We found all three of them sleeping in the bottom of the hay trough. The babies were tucked under the wire that holds the hay up.
PJ is on the left and Miss Ella is on the right.
24 hours old
Proud mama watching over her little ones.
God's precious little creatures.
We are so blessed to be living where we are living.
Our house may not be up to date and very old but having almost one and a half acres of land where we can have the goats and the garden and everything else that is going on, is something that Kirk and I have waited a lifetime to experience.
And we have it right at our finger tips.
God is  Good...All the Time!
