Easter Quarantine 2020

This has to be the weirdest Easter ever.
We had to make our own Pancake breakfast to eat at home.
We attended Alpine Church online.
We were all home at once to dyed Easter eggs.
Jared dyed a couple eggs.
Did I mention that Jared dyed eggs too?
We ate Easter dinner alone as a family.
Yeah, it was weird but one thing for sure is that
God our Father in Heaven is still the same.
Jesus is still the same
and the Holy Spirit is still the same.
What a relief!

A little late.....

Here it is June and I am looking back over the months that we have missed. Life has passed way too quickly. I love that in the midst of chaos our little family has managed to spend moments of time together. Dying eggs was one of them. I am thrilled that our adult children still enjoy these family traditions like dying eggs.
I couldn't figure out why Jared's head was resting on the table. Is it too bright on this beautiful sunny day, does he have a headache, is he tired?
No, he's using his phone to research ideas to draw on his egg! Jared? The one that probably likes dying eggs the least but still does it?
My crazy Kaleb wore this shirt special for dying eggs this beautiful day in April.
I love how pretty all the colors look. I love the changing of the seasons and how Spring in Cache Valley truely blossoms into so many colors.
And I love that Alexander made it through the winter in the house and has a healthy diet.....minus the rocks!

Crab Treat

This crab that we babysat for my nephew about 6 years ago and never went home, had an Easter treat last Sunday.  I claim to not know his name, but really it is Louie or Lou or something like that. Either way, the thing just hangs out in this tank with nothing to do. We just feed it, water it, mist it and it ....  LIVES! Anyway, on Easter morning Victoria discovered a plastic egg tucked away in his tank. The egg cracked open and revealed a Hershy's Kiss. Well, she thought there was only one that had popped out. Really, there were two. One must have fallen in the crevace of the log. Two mornings later we had one deeply satisfied hermit crab. And alive too. Louie had found a delicious treat in his habitat. I guess it is true with hermit crabs....Finders Keepers. He probably thought he died and went to heaven to find a piece of chocolate all to himself. He managed to carefully unwrap the foil wrapper and eat every single crumb of chocolate. The little tag was tucked up in his shell. I didn't check to see if he had chocolate on his face.  I wouldn't really be sure where to look for that. I DID check to see that he was still alive.  He seems to be doing just fine and doesn't have the same effect it would have had on a room full of kids. He slept all day.

Eggs, Eggs, Eggs

Our neighborhood had an Egg Hunt for little kids.
Yes, that is Jared and Kaleb fighting over eggs.
After all the age groups went, they turned the teens loose.
I guess that gave Jared and Kaleb the idea to be goofy.
Atleast no one was injured. Kaleb sure does put up
with a lot from his 6ft brother.
Jared had about 6 eggs in his hands that
he dumped into Victoria's basket. She felt pretty lucky.
I have to say that this is our first time since Daphne was
18 months old that I have actually seen chocolate
stuffed into plastic eggs.
For so many years in AZ, chocolate would have melted.
I guess at 47 degree weather you don't have to worry about chocolate melting.
 We love to dye eggs.
Of course Kirk's eggs are always superior.
Sammy wanted so bad in my lap....
I think to be closer to the ...... Egggggggggssssss!
Samson has the perfect nails for painting.
When I was little I would paint our dogs nails a bright pink.
At least we had blue nail polish for a boy.
I think they look pretty good and he didn't seem to care.
He was just happy to be lounging in my lap.
He is such a Mama's Lap Dog.
I guess thats what you call a Mama's Dog?
Victoria painted his back feet a bright pink.

This was yesterday......
And this is TODAY!

If you look closely, you can still see snow in the shadow of the fence.

Easter...a little late.

I love Easter. We celebrated Jesus' Resurrection...squeezed Easter bunnies and ate jelly beans, dyed Easter eggs,Kirk and Daphne playing hand bells at all three services, had a pancake breakfast at church, and smashed a finger in the back door of the van. Victoria and I managed to make it to Urgent Care and back, all before Kirk and Daphne even knew we were gone. Her finger looked a little crooked but it wasn't broken. What a relief knowing that since Jared had to actually unlatch the door to get her finger out. I don't know who was upset more...the smasher or the smashee.
Needless to say, no broken bones and Easter celebration continued on without a hitch.A little emotionally drained from the door incident but a quick recovery.
And a big brother gave special treatment to a little sister all day. That was priceless! We did manage to corral the kids long enough to get a picture. My nephew Kyle is in the back between Daphne and Jared. There are advantages to being the youngest of four much bigger than you kids. The boys did a great job of hiding eggs for Victoria and Kaleb to find. Though we are still finding some here and there as they fall out of the tree weeks later. These are hysterical.Kaleb, Victoria and I made chickie cake pops. First we couldn't get them to stay on the sticks without falling all the way through. So we axed the stick idea.I would just get one pretty smooth and Victoria would stick her fingers into the chocolate trying to put the beak and feet in place.Either way they turned out pretty cute. They tasted great. No complaints there. It is one of those projects that you have to try again. I am sure that next time they will turn out better. I am the only one who felt this way. Everyone else thought they were cute.

Yeah...right.
