Mount Rushmore

Mount Rushmore was incredible. It was everything we thought it would be. The museum explained how they actually sculpted it to scale and made it accurate. Unbelieveable. The boys earned their Junior Ranger badges, so we got alot more out of it than if we had just gone and observed. Other than it being hot that day it was a wonderful experience. History right at your fingertips. Of course the kids got credit for American History in school. What a fun way to to learn. Being the mother that I am I got plenty of exercise that day. I ran down to the underground parking three times to check on Henry. It felt so abnormal to leave a dog in a vehicle that it made me really nervous. It was still cool enough but it still worried me. We might have spent more time there if we didn't have a precious doggy with us.
This is the "sling" that the men were hoisted over the cliff to sculpt these incredible leaders of our country. It took 440 men 14 years to complete this project. I can't even fathom Kirks huge projects that he does let alone this one. We were all so impressed.

That place is so awesome! I got to go there with a boyfriend and his family when I was about 19. The faces are amazing.
